Dutch F-35A on NATO Air Policing mission shot down Russian pilotless armed aircraft, sports Geran-2 drone kill mark on its fuselage

A Royal Netherlands Air and Space Force F-35A, tail number F-027, achieved the first combat kill by a NATO aircraft against Russian drones over Polish airspace on September 9-10, 2025. The F-35A, now bearing a kill mark, intercepted a swarm of Geran-2 drones during a NATO Air Policing mission. Russian and NATO have been involved in a war of words over the alleged drone incursion.
